An Open Letter to Carol Rainey From Linda Cortile
April 8, 2011
Carol:
I've been quiet all of this time because my computer has been down - thankfully. Normally, I wouldn't give you the right time of day if I didn't care about Budd, and all the people you've angered with your underhanded remarks.
As you know, I'm a simple woman who has tried to live an ordinary life, and so, I'm going to quickly break the facts down in basic terms. To sum it all up: You are a disgruntled ex-wife who refuses to let go. As one hand hangs on by its fingernails, the other uses people whom Budd cares about - as tools to hurt him - and that is the crux of the matter. Evidently, you have not gone on with your life. In fact, you are living in a time that no longer exists. That in itself sounds more bizarre than the alien abduction phenomenon as a whole.
Beware. You may even scare the debunkers away.
Now - in response to your critiques:
You have got to be kidding. Between your incoherent rants, and extremely embellished credentials, one has to say that you haven't done your credibility any favors. The truth could help, but then, honesty does not fit into your agenda. I have nothing to defend, after all, Budd's standing, and the decades of his investigations are impeccable. Whether you like it or not, nothing you say or do will ever change that, nor will anyone fill his shoes.
As for the Witnessed case - it stands on its own as it has for the past 20 years. And me? Quite frankly, it's none of my business what you think - nor do I care. However, the prejudicial comments you made regarding my way of life as a wife, mother, and grandmother tell a lot about you. Most women and men around the world live a typical lifestyle like mine. Sadly, as it seems, the only light in your life has come from a computer screen in a small, darkened room - instead of family, friends or even a career.
Since you are aware that Budd is ill, many of us have been asking the same questions: "What is she trying to do? Murder him?" Perhaps, you are so blinded by hostility you haven't realized that if Budd's health worsens as a result of your antics, a verbal backlash directed at you by those who care about him will be very unpleasant, to say the least. You see, Budd Hopkins is loved, and unlike you - he's respected.
Anyway, there isn't much left to say except that this American-Italian wife and mother will go now - to do the following things that make you feel like, "...diving off the Brooklyn Bridge." There are sweet grandchildren to hug, home-cooked meals to prepare, and laundry to tend to. You won't hear from me again because I won't be a part of your disgusting agenda, especially at a time when Budd's life should be at its happiest.
Sincerely,
Linda Cortile
